The Atlantic Group has partnered with a reputable manufacturing company in Newburyport, MA that is looking for a Corporate Accounting Manager to join their expanding team.
Must Haves:
- 8-10+ years of accounting experience
- Managerial/ supervisory experience
- Inventory accounting
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus
The Corporate Accounting Manager will be overseeing accounting principles, procedures, and practices for a publicly traded manufacturing firm with various reporting entities, ensuring the prompt and precise preparation of financial statements. This position involves supervising the general accounting and accounts payable departments, and ensuring efficient allocation of tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. Additionally, the role encompasses inventory accounting responsibilities and substantial involvement in implementing automated accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the corporate accounting system, ensuring consistent adherence to the general ledger structure, preservation of data, and implementation of internal controls.
- Manages and oversees monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including detailed account reconciliations.
- Supervises day-to-day operations of the accounts payable and general accounting departments, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-controlled processes.
- Directs the company-wide inventory accounting process, assisting plant locations with inventory/costing issues and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Conducts monthly analysis of balance sheet accounts to maintain integrity and accuracy.
- Assists the controller in managing quarter-end and year-end audits by third-party public accounting firms, ensuring timely and favorable completions.
- Facilitates other financial, tax, bank, and insurance audits, including preparation of external audit materials and reports.
- Collaborates with third-party tax accountants throughout the year, providing documentation for annual tax returns and unscheduled audits.
- Manages and facilitates periodic tax and statutory filings, such as sales and use taxes, property and excise taxes, franchise, and annual reports, as well as 1099 filings.
- Evaluates departmental workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and resource optimization.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and training of new systems.
- Provides ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and explains monthly, quarterly, and annual financial variances.
- Serves as co-administrator for all banking functions, including check signing, account access, positive pay exceptions, daily borrowing needs, and stop payments.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting, and a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience
- Management experience required
- ERP experience is a plus
