Job Summary:
As the Payroll Specialist, you will perform highly complex and independent payroll support duties utilizing a primary payroll software system, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. MUST be bilingual
Supervisor Role:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Prepares and processes payroll and other financial documents. Review, calculate, and process payroll changes and adjustments.
Review and reconcile payroll records for accuracy. Maintains, scans, and files payroll records for future reference.
Prepares and executes state and federal payroll taxes. Assists employees in payroll deductions and withholdings.
Coordinates timekeeping activities with all departments. Maintains accruals electronically.
Provides information to employees and outside agencies regarding payroll issues.
Calculates and processes all elected and mandatory payroll deductions, including taxes, child support orders, insurance, and garnishments.
Reviews and maintains updated procedures. Assists and coordinates the workflow and procedures between the Payroll and Operations departments.
Trains and oversees employees who perform entry of time and attendance functions.
Prepares direct deposit information for transmittal to the bank before established deadlines.
Generates payroll and financial reports for various departments-and monitors bank activity for direct deposit returns.
Balances and prepares payroll tax returns.Generates new employee files as needed and maintains ongoing employee file accuracy.
Process requests from governmental agencies, including garnishments, EDD claims, verifications of employment, etc.
Actively participate and assist with the development and execution of new company policies and processes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education:
Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance required; Accounting Degree preferred
Three plus years in a Payroll Office performing all payroll functions and additional payroll office experience in lieu of an Associate degree.
Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient with payroll software.
Proficient in ISloved, TalentReef and Ceridian.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet strict payroll and company deadlines.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook with moderate Excel skill level
Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in managing payroll and related activities.
Experience with iSolved or equivalent payroll systems is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of talent and workforce management solutions
