Overview

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of federal and state leave regulations, policies, and guidelines. This role involves overseeing all facets of employee leave, encompassing FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws, and organizational policies. The Leave of Absence Specialist will act as the primary resource for employees and management concerning leave-related inquiries and will collaborate closely with HR, legal, and other relevant parties to ensure compliance and effective management of leave programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication and Support: Serve as the primary resource for employees and management regarding leave-related inquiries, providing guidance and support throughout the leave process.
  • Leave Administration: Oversee the complete leave of absence process, including intake, eligibility assessment, documentation review, approval/denial, tracking, and monitoring of leave usage.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all leave requests, approvals, and communications, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Coordination: Work in partnership with HR Business Partners, Benefits, Payroll, and other pertinent departments to synchronize leave management efforts and ensure seamless integration with other HR functions.
  • New Employee Benefits Orientation: Provide benefit information to newly hired employees to familiarize them with U.S. benefits.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline leave administration processes, systems, and tools, and recommend policy updates based on emerging trends or regulatory changes.
  • Compliance: Remain informed about federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations to ensure that company policies and practices remain compliant, interpreting and applying complex leave laws to specific scenarios.
  • Tuition Reimbursement Program Administration: Address employee and management inquiries related to tuition reimbursement, managing the program by determining employee eligibility, reviewing supporting documentation, and submitting reimbursement requests to the payroll department.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in employee benefit administration is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in leave administration, preferably within a large corporate setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex policies and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented with robust organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in leave management software and MS Office Suite.
