Central Houston, Inc. / Central Houston Civic Improvement

Founded in 1983, Central Houston, Inc. creates a community to advocate and advance the vision for Downtown. Led by a prestigious board of corporate and community leaders, it is a non-profit organization funded by its members. Central Houston Civic Improvement is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable affiliate of Central Houston, Inc. and serves as the fiscal agent for catalyst projects.

Houston Downtown Management District

In 1996, the Texas legislature created Houston Downtown Management District to protect and beautify the public realm, provide programming and marketing, and plan and catalyze economic development. Guided by a diverse board, it is funded through a fair and proportionate assessment of real property.

Downtown Redevelopment Authority / TIRZ #3

Downtown Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ #3 improves Downtown's economic wellbeing through capital and operational investments in parks, infrastructure, safety, and other public realm improvements. It is governed by a city-appointed or confirmed board and made possible by reinvesting incremental property taxes within its zone's boundaries.

Essential Responsibilities:

o Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources including foundations, corporations, and government grants.

o Analyze and assess potential funding opportunities to align with the DTH+'s mission and programs.

* Proposal Development:

o Develop compelling narratives and ensure proposals are persuasive, well-documented, and comply with all grant guidelines and criteria.

* Grant Management:

o Maintain detailed records of grant submissions, including deadlines, requirements, and outcomes.

o Manage and track grant funding timelines and deliverables to ensure compliance with all grant agreements.

* Collaboration:

o Work with department directors and support the preparation and submission of interim and final reports to funders, documenting the progress and impact of funded projects, as needed.

* Training and Development:

o Stay updated on best practices in grant writing and fundraising strategies.

o Provide training and support to other staff members involved in the grant process, as needed.

* Strategic Planning:

o Contribute to the development of the organization's long-term fundraising strategy.

o Identify new opportunities and innovative approaches to secure funding.

* Compliance and Ethics:

o Work with the department directors to ensure all grant activities adhere to the ethical standards and regulations of both the nonprofit organization and the funding sources.

o Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to funders and the organization's strategic plans.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

* Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or related field, or comparable associate's degree paired with 5+ years of employment as a grant writer.

* Demonstrated 3+ years of experience in grant writing with a track record of securing new funding opportunities and comprehensive knowledge of research.

* Ability to work effectively under pressure.

* Excellent writing and verbal skills.

* Be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.

* Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.

* Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel), and database management skills.

* Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
