Summary

The Annual Giving Specialist supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by developing, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive annual giving program that attracts and stewards a foundation of philanthropic individuals through concerted outreach. Primary responsibilities include managing direct mail solicitations, online giving, and implementing strategic stewardship activities with the Development team. This position requires system-level thinking, is metric driven, and success is defined through analytical measurements and donor engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. In collaboration with Marketing, develop and implement direct mail and digital solicitation strategies that align with department objectives, including community giving events and days.
  2. Lead development of stewardship materials, donor programming, and donor segmentation based on interests, giving levels, frequency, and other factors. Includes new donor welcome series, donor impact newsletters, donor recognition week, and other outreach collateral.
  3. In collaboration with Senior Communication Specialist and the Membership team, develop a comprehensive communication strategy including common messaging, calendaring, target segmentation that strengthens the member to donor portion of the pipeline.
  4. Enhance, grow, and manage recurring gift programs by increasing enrollment, ensuring accurate data capture, and fulfilling donor benefits.
  5. Lead tribute programs such as Military Honor Wall, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, and Theater Seats, including solicitation of gifts and coordination of unveiling and related events.
  6. Actively support the management of the individual donor pipeline through identification, cultivation, and stewardship of annual donors. Make recommendations to Major/Planned Giving Officers.
  7. Assist with yearly budget projections including analysis and projected expenses of applicable programs.
  8. Create regular and accurate reporting for Museum Senior Leadership and other applicable internal stakeholders detailing progress towards annual and multi-year goals.
  9. Perform additional related activities that may emerge from research and analysis.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of progressive experience in fundraising, non-profit membership and/or marketing for non-profit development or advancement team.
  • Experience working with donor solicitations and segmentation preferred.
Knowledge
  • Proficient knowledge of philanthropic giving and best practices for fundraising.
  • Basic knowledge of fundraising analytics and donor database functions.
Skills
  • Displays excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience utilizing a donor database; Raiser's Edge experience a plus.
Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement successful development strategies for a diverse donor population.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated; requires a global outlook, as well as a high level of attention to detail and ownership.
  • Ability to establish solid working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to clearly articulate The Museum of Flight mission, vision, and impact, and how they align with donor interests.
  • Proven ability to balance and prioritize multiple, complex, and competing tasks to meet deadlines in a professional manner.
  • Innovative in practice, remains open to new ideas and is able and willing to test and implement updates to improve processes, or offer a new perspective on existing programs.

Paid-Time Off

Our paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $68,000 to $84,000depending on experience.
