Develops and implements procedures for effectively using volunteers in programs and monitors volunteer participation for effectiveness. Consult with staff to develop appropriate volunteer position descriptions. Develop a comprehensive volunteer manual and revise this as necessary. Develops and implements a plan for volunteer recruitment and produces appropriate educational and informational material. Manages the capture of attendance data and transfers it to the volunteer database for 1,000+ volunteers involved during the program. Maintains the volunteer resource database with comprehensive files for all volunteers. Plans appropriate volunteer recognition. Prepares annual reports regarding the status of volunteer resources. Develops and manages volunteer resource program budget. Serves as a member of the Resource Development Team in any helpful way. Leads all volunteers to work according to The Salvation Army's mission, priorities, and goals. Solicits and appropriately recognizes donors of in-kind goods and services. Cultivates and maintains contacts with corporate, civic, and religious groups and colleges to educate the public about Salvation Army programs and recruit volunteers and donors. Plans and produces visual aids for community presentations. Conducts facility tours. Maintains roster of local disaster volunteers and canteen drivers. Deploys volunteers for local emergencies and assists in recruiting and deploying volunteers for emergencies elsewhere. Performs other related work as required. What we are looking for in you:BA/BS degree and Volunteer management training or certification. At least two years supervisory experience Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Special events, seasonal programs, and disasters or emergencies may require prolonged walking, standing, or driving. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately (less than 25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: Duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting. Most work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, etc. Work may involve driving a vehicle to special events or supervising volunteers at locations throughout the community where physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or commuting in heavy traffic may occur.
