Job Description:

The Appraisal Review Analyst I reviews, analyzes, and evaluates 1- 4 family real estate appraisals and valuations for Residential or Consumer loans as well as Loss Prevention reviews produced by appraisal vendors. The Appraisal Review Analyst I corresponds with and follows up with appraisers for corrections, clarifications and edits as well as reconciling differences in opinion or perspective.

Depth & Scope:
  • Evaluates appraisals of properties
  • Understands real estate market trends
  • Assists loan officers, loan processors, underwriters and management by explaining valuation and appraisal issues
  • Reviews appraisals to ensure standards are met; Contacts and follows up with appraisers for clarity on adjustments or methods as appropriate to ensure compliance under the direction/guidance of a licensed appraiser
  • Reviews content, assumptions, and other aspects of appraisals and valuations for consistency
  • Maintains knowledge of loan product underwriting guidelines, internal policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree or progressive work experience in addition to experience below
  • 1+ Years of related experience
  • Appraisal Trainee License or Certifications for 15 hour USPAP class, Basic Appraisal Principles and Basic Appraisal Procedures Preferred
  • In depth knowledge of residential real estate valuation methodology and techniques
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills with the ability to combine numerous disparate pieces of data into a comprehensive structure to improve evaluative accuracy and effectiveness
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills with the ability to explain interpretive and subjective decisions
  • Ability to manage workflow and adapt to changing conditions based on business objectives and priorities
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills including the ability to establish and change priorities based on sound business reasoning
  • 5 years of previous experience reviewing appraisals and evaluations preferred
