What You Will DoInThis Role:Interpret orders and transcribes or verifies them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer systemAccurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticalsMonitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and doseSuggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staffSustain the hospital formulary, minimizing nonformulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and promotes rational drug therapy selectionProvide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patientsAssist with the antimicrobial management and other clinical programsDocument all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completelyComplete notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactionsParticipate in the training of new pharmacists, pharmacy students, and techniciansMaintain professional competency sufficient to meet current and future needs of the facilityHas knowledge of the patient population served and apply that knowledge in the care of those patientsProvide basic technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systemsEffectively supervise pharmacy operation activities and provides support to the whole pharmacy teamCompliant with facility pharmacy schedule to work physically at patient care areas to interact with medical staff, nurses and other members of the healthcare team.Effectively and proactively intervene in conflicts between pharmacy and medical staff regarding drug therapy issue resolutions.Comply with all regulatory standardsPrioritize work and lead others to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedure. Identify areas for improved efficiencySupervise and assist pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectivelyAct as supervisor in charge as assignedParticipate in the continuous quality improvement of pharmacy operations (operational/clinical)Perform other duties as assignedWhat Qualifications You Will Need:B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of PharmacyPharmacist license in good standing with the TX State Board of PharmacyMinimum of 1 year hospital experience required, 3 years hospital experience preferred or PGY1 residency trainedMedical City Heart & Spine Hospitals are hospitals for specialized advanced cardiovascular and spine care. The facility has a dedicated cardiac emergency room. Medical City Spine Hospital has 25+ beds. It provides spine care for common spine disorders. Spine care is also provided for rare, hard-to-treat spinal deformities. Those include adult and pediatric scoliosis and spondylolistheses.
