Description

Feeding Tampa Bay serves ten counties in West Central Florida and is a leader in hunger relief across our region. Just last year, we served 85M meals to our neighbors through direct service and through our network of 400+ food pantry partners.

But, we know food alone won't solve hunger - that's why we're redefining what it means to feed our region. By creating pathways to possibilities for nearly 1 million people, Feeding Tampa Bay connects and convenes solutions, partners and resources that nourish long-term stability. Summary

The Feeding Tampa Bay Grants team is responsible for the successful acquisition and stewardship of grants for Feeding Tampa Bay - writing, research, preparation, execution, submission, tracking, and reporting. Our team is dynamic, deadline-driven, and evidence-based. The Grants team is critical in securing complex funding opportunities to ensure that the essential functions of all teams can be executed and our neighbors receive the resources they need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regularly update the "Quick Facts" document, ensuring it reflects the latest statistics on food insecurity, poverty rates, and other key metrics in our 10-county area.
  • Collaborate with the grants and marketing teams to update organization overviews and messaging in alignment with new branding and mission.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in data, using reliable sources such as Feeding America, government reports, and academic studies.
  • Assist in keeping Toolbox documents current, including grant language templates, organizational best practices, and key reference materials.
  • Conduct research to support grant applications, strategic planning, and program development, focusing on peer-reviewed articles, case studies, and other sources relevant to our mission.
  • Summarize findings in reports for internal use, supporting data-driven decision-making in grant applications.
  • Track best practices in areas like hunger relief, food distribution, and nonprofit program effectiveness.
  • Help write and edit internal documents, proposals, and reports to align with Feeding Tampa Bay's branding and messaging standards.
  • Collaborate on grant proposals, integrating current data and research to strengthen our case for funding.
  • Assist with writing and editing grant applications, particularly where research findings or data from the "Quick Facts" or "Toolbox" documents are required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and PhD students are eligible for placement in Feeding Tampa Bay's internship program, but job responsibilities will vary based on level of experience and requirements of individual programs.
    • Preferred Majors: Communications, Professional or Technical Writing, English, Public Policy, Political Science, Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy, or Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and writing
  • Ability to communicate comfortably with clients both in person and over the phone including making cold calls to initiate services
  • Ability to work in low-income, culturally diverse, community settings and a basic understanding of the challenges and barriers faced when individuals and families seek assistance
  • Ability to update and manage detailed documents and statistics
  • Comfortable with academic research methods and presenting data in clear reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and adapt to Feeding Tampa Bay's mission and branding.
  • Ability to work constructively with individuals (agency staff, the public, and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in culturally diverse work environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to be timely in terms of handing in deliverables and maintaining agreed upon work hours.
