Job Description


Job Title: Communication Assistant - On Call Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Department/Location: Catholic Foundation, Bishop Kicanas Pastoral Center / Tucson, AZ

Primary Function: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the On Call Communication Assistant provides support for marketing and social media. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, "...Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." (Eph. 4:1)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission of the Diocese by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The on-call employee may not espouse, in word or deed, any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Give evidence of living Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of a personal faith journey; strive to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
  • Quickly learn and adapt to proprietary software and tools as required.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical files related to assigned tasks.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information in accordance with company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to clarify requirements and provide updates.
  • Complete assigned tasks within deadlines to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Conduct quality checks on work to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Create, schedule, and post content on the company's social media platforms.
  • Update and maintain the Catholic Foundation's website, ensuring content is current and accurate.
  • Assist with event logistics, including setup, breakdown, and on-site support.
  • Track and analyze the performance of social media posts, campaigns, and website traffic.
  • Provide administrative support for marketing and event planning as needed.
Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.

Required Activities: Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, keyboarding.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of, and a strong commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent human relations, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills
  • Organized self-starter, capable of multitasking and working with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
  • Punctual and professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for the privacy of donors and persons served.
  • Successful completion of background, criminal history, and credit history checks
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in marketing, communications, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in managing social media platforms and basic website maintenance.
  • Experience with content creation is a plus.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
