Description

Position Purpose:

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for delivering the ultimate customer service experience and supporting the development of both the Relationship Bankers and Relationship Tellers. This position is an all-encompassing role which requires the incumbent to engage in sales and service activities by uncovering opportunities to achieve personal and bank wide sales goals and may include lending authority. An Assistant Branch Manager must maintain sound relationships with existing and potential customers within the branch's book of business. They also create a positive customer relationship by effectively communicating a clear understanding of the benefits of the Bank's products and services to its customers. They will assist the Branch Manager in the development and training of branch staff. The Assistant Branch Manager assumes the responsibility of the Branch in the absence of the Branch Manager which includes overdraft authority and decisions.

Essential Duties:

  1. Provide excellent customer service.
  2. Utilizes techniques to uncover customer needs and match to the Bank's products and services; sell a full range of retail products/services such as deposit accounts, loans, credit cards, and safe deposit boxes to meet established individual goals contributing to branch and bank wide goals.
  3. Provides a variety of transactions for customers, including typical teller transactions i.e., cashes checks and processes checking and savings account withdrawals and balancing duties, etc.
  4. Responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in achieving the branch's overall profitability.
  5. Responsible for assisting the Branch Manager maintaining internal controls of the branch.
  6. Responsible for assisting Branch Manager in supervising and motivating staff, setting goals, evaluations and for the professional development of branch staff.
  7. Support the Branch Manager in the lending activities of the Branch to include overdraft decisions and may include lending authority excluding consumer real estate loans.
  8. Demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of Federal Regulations and Bank's Policy related to Branch functions.
  9. Supervises all aspects of the branch in the Manager's absence.
  10. Base all decisions on Bank policies, procedures and overall philosophy.
  11. May perform joint sales calls with Manager or Lender
  12. Refer customers to appropriate business partners or department. This includes; but is not limited to: consumer real estate, commercial and mortgage lending, cash management, investment, merchant services and insurance.
  13. Maintain required documentation to track perspective, ongoing and closed sales.
  14. Perform services of Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO). Must comply with the provisions of the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) with regards to MLO registration on the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing and Registry (NMLS).
  15. Participate in bank sponsored community activities.
  16. Build a working rapport with other departments within the bank.
  17. Respond to all calls and emails by the end of the business day. If an answer is not complete, an acknowledgement (call or email) should be made to explain the next steps.
Requirements

Knowledge and Skills Required:
  1. 3 years banking experience or college degree.
  2. Self-motivated with a demonstrated aptitude and desire for sales achievement.
  3. Passion for customer service and helping people.
  4. Comfortable making outreach calls to consumer or business prospects.
  5. Thorough knowledge of Branch Operations to answer questions and resolve problems.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills necessary for coordinating branch schedules and handling co-worker problems.
  7. Ability to interact with customers, vendors and team members in a professional and personable manner.
  8. Advanced knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and other peripherals.
  9. Advanced knowledge of teller equipment, account opening software, core system and lending policies/procedures as well as branch security equipment
  10. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical/Working Conditions:
  1. Hours may exceed a 40-hour workweek.
  2. Exercise a willingness to work any established business hours set by Bank.
  3. Occasional travel may be required to assist other branches as needed.
  4. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and seminars for further training.
  5. Must be able to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  6. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  7. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  8. Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
