Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. ("CBC") is seeking a Senior Director of Events who has the vision necessary to map out and execute large-scale, profitable events, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and Durham Athletic Park. The ideal candidate has a strong background in event management, planning and operations, client and vendor relations, marketing, conceptualizing possibilities, with a focus on driving event revenue across tickets, sponsorships, concessions, retail, etc. The role requires someone who is highly analytical, strategic, detail-orientated, and thinks creatively. The position entails managing and overseeing all aspects of running an events division, with the communication and sales skills to ensure operational and financial success.

VP of CBC Sports

Responsibilities: Develop event strategies and plans that align with goals. Implement daily/weekly processes to guide all aspects of the business. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify event opportunities, define objectives, and establish timelines and budgets. Coordinate with venue staff, vendors, contractors to secure necessary resources and maintain compliance with regulations and safety standards. Cultivate relationships with sponsors, vendors, and other stakeholders to enhance event offerings and generate revenue opportunities. Negotiate contracts and sponsorship agreements that maximize ROI and support the long-term sustainability of special events. Lead marketing efforts to promote events and drive ticket sales, leveraging a mix of traditional and digital marketing. Develop compelling messaging and branding initiatives that resonate with target audiences and differentiate our events in the marketplace. Manage event budgets and financial performance to achieve revenue targets and optimize profitability. Track expenses, monitor ticket sales and sponsorship revenue, and provide regular reporting to senior management on financial metrics and key performance indicators. With support from the accounting team, plan, budget, and control all operating and capital investment expenditures including monthly financial reports, annual budgets and forecasts, and 5-year projections. Oversees attainment of budgeted revenue, operating expense, NOI, and cash flow goals by analyzing and evaluating financial statements, reconciling monthly statements against approved budget, and working with the accounting team and others to address and resolve any projected gaps in financial performance; proven P&L ownership is a key attribute of the ideal candidate. Develop and manage marketing strategy and deployment ensuring wide exposure of events. Balance multiple project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations related to event management & safety. Act as a liaison between the project and the local events community; maintain deep relationships with local community partners and stakeholders to ensure best-in-class execution of relevant events. Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of all involved. Requirements and Skills:

The ideal candidate should possess the following experience, knowledge, and technical skills:

Experience:

Proven individual with over 5 years of event management demonstrating a track record of performance in areas including event procurement, P&L management, sponsorships, etc. Experience in the sports or entertainment industry is preferred. Evidence of planning acumen and of being a strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement processes and plans. Owner's Mindset:

Possess a long-term owner's approach to all aspects of the job. Ability to maintain P&L ownership and accountability in combination with well-crafted goals and strategies towards attaining long-terms goals.
