TITLE: Bookkeeper


QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Has a minimum of an Associate Degree in accounting or comparable experience
  1. Has specialized skills in accounting, typing, filing, telephone and computer operation
  1. Has demonstrated competence in accounting correspondence and respect for confidentiality
  1. Has a minimum of three years of responsible financial record keeping experience with experience in an automated environment
  1. Has prior experience or education that indicates the ability to handle pressure and deal with changing tasks and time schedule
  1. Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  1. Has demonstrated the ability or potential to relate to and work effectively with staff and community
REPORTS TO: Assigned Manager/Director

JOB GOAL: To manage efficiently the bookkeeping function of the Board of Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Be familiar with and follow written statutes, policies and procedures related to job responsibilities
  1. Prepare the bi-weekly payroll
  1. Balance all monthly and annual financial reports including PSD, CSD and Retirement reports
  1. Maintain billing records for field trips
  1. Prepare billing for custodial or other services as necessary
  1. Maintain employee records for compensated leave
  1. Preserve all records relating to Board accounting transactions as directed by the Manager Fiscal Services
  1. Balance all quarterly, year-end, fiscal and W-2 reports
  1. Deposit Board funds in properly designated depository as directed by the Manager Fiscal Services
  1. Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Manager Fiscal Services
