Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Event Manager, the successful candidate will support the planning and execution of assigned events. This position will play an important role in assisting the event management team with the delivery of event-related activities essential to venue operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, collaborating with internal event departments, collecting and distributing event information from clients, promoters, and show representatives, and supporting the development of staffing and labor plans to ensure a seamless and favorable experience for guests and venue users.

This role pays an hourly wage of $21.64.

About the Venue:

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, commonly referred to as Greensboro Coliseum (the first and biggest building on the site), is an entertainment and sports complex located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Opened in 1959, the complex holds eight venues that includes an amphitheater, arena, aquatic center, banquet hall, convention center, museum, theatre, and an indoor pavilion. It is the home of the UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team, the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League, the Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League, as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with their Men's and Women's basketball tournaments.

Responsibilities:

Assist and support the execution of all event activities, including but not limited to: providing event related planning, servicing and supervision of all events in support to the Event Manager, as needed.
Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives
Work concisely with Event Manager when adjusting plans and events based on clients feedback and needs
Assist in the preparation and distribution of event memo sheet to all staff and departments in a timely manner.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, contractors and patrons
Communicate clearly, concisely, and promptly with each Department regarding specific needs and information for each event.
Assist in the advancement of events/shows.
Assist with the completion of pre-show event financial estimates
Assist with the completion of post-show event settlements
Advise lessees on services available from independent contractors for events
At times, function as a liaison between the client (Lessee) of the facility and the facility staff
Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels
Coordinate communication between building staff and show staff during load in and load out
Make hospitality arrangements as needed
Communicate with municipal officials, including police, fire and medical services, event staff and public to ensure security of patrons and events run smoothly
Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event
Create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every event
Coordinate service needs with Food and Beverage provider as needed
Work a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
1-2 years experience same or similar position in arenas, sports venues, convention centers, stadiums or theaters preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Auto CAD preferred
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid drivers license
Knowledge of operational characteristics of events
Ability to identify the needs of users of the facility
Knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
Knowledge of customer service practices
Knowledge of principles of supervision and training
Demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts
Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
Knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
Experience with budget preparation and control
Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage conflicting timelines
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Ability to function in a fast-paced, constantly changing, high-pressure environment
