Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is a service-oriented position that is responsible for various accounting functions for the Missouri Historical Society.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to an environment that fosters teamwork, effective communication and responsiveness.

Assist with processing Accounts Payable invoices and purchase orders.

Record cash receipts from various sources within the organization.

Maintain current written procedures.

Prepare journal entries related to the various areas in support of month end closing.

Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close and reconciliation process.

Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts as needed.

Cross train and serve as back up to Accounts Payable.

Other administrative tasks as assigned.

Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

Solid written and oral communication skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office.

Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma, college degree is preferred.

Minimum of 1 year of accounting work experience.

Experience with Financial Edge accounting system is preferred.
