The Data Systems Manager will initially support the PLM architect with all aspects related to the implementation of Optiva PLM, the product life cycle application which will centralize and manage all data, processes, and collaboration related to a product throughout its lifecycle.

They will be instrumental in identifying and working with key stakeholders to determine formula objects, their attributes and map the as-is and to-be processes, from bench to commercialization and post commercialization. They will also lead the effort to develop a common nomenclature and test, launch and train Optiva PLM users across the Gowan enterprise as part of an overarching project to improve data management and compliance.

As part of the development team this position is responsible for data management within product development as well as ensuring alignment with connected software platforms across the company. International travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the PLM architect in the configuration and implementation of Optiva PLM to manage our product life cycles from first development through to commercialization:
    • Track customization and configuration
    • Assist in data migration and work with different departments to transform their data for loading into the database
    • With reference to the above, identify data integrity issues and data cleansing requirements
    • Plan and manage sprints to keep project objectives and timelines
    • Support the process, prioritization and direction from the business and the PLM architect:
    • Audit existing systems and incorporate key business objectives
    • Review and ensure that configuration supports these requirements
    • Form a close collaboration with key stakeholders in Development, IT, Supply Chain and Regulatory functions
    • Establish an advanced understanding of Gowan's enterprise platform, and other applications that will be integrated to Optiva PLM; Create the technical requirements necessary for IT to implement the integrations
    • Develop a working knowledge of our products, formulation development processes, and facilitate the bridge to master material management during commercialization
    • Evaluate and suggest on-going improvements or new tools and processes to continually improve our data management and practices
    • Act as the focal point for change control, documenting and monitoring all related process changes; manage the day to day activities by coordinating IT and Development resources, as needed
    • Support the interaction and involvement of consultants, evaluate their value and help provide priorities and direction
    • Ultimately take the lead in demonstrating capabilities and need, be a key subject matter expert for the company on development data architecture and archiving
Requirements:
    • The successful candidate will have a degree in System or Chemical Engineering or a related field, ideally combined with experience in process manufacturing or formulations and data management.
    • They should possess a strong knowledge of relational databases and an understanding of formulation management tools and related aspects.
    • The successful person will have advanced analytical and data modelling skills, be familiar with Agile project management and fluent with advanced data analysis tools in Microsoft Excel, Excel Power Pivot, Power BI and experienced with Visio and Microsoft's suite of collaboration tools including SharePoint and Teams.
    • The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. This role will involve significant collaboration with other departments, so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
    • Travel within the United States and internationally, as required.
