Position Summary: The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for large-scale construction projects. This role requires in-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation methods. The Senior Estimator will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project bids are competitive and reflect true costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Bid Management: Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Cost Research: Conduct market research to stay updated on current costs of materials, labor, and equipment. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and recommend appropriate contingencies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and deliverables.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare estimates and analyze data.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and revisions.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators, fostering their professional growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on large-scale projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Occasionally visit construction sites, which may require walking and standing for extended periods.

Work Environment:

  • This role primarily operates in a professional office environment but may require occasional site visits.
