Description

Position Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Campus Dining Manager to lead our culinary team at Charis Bible College. The candidate will have a passion for creating diverse and delicious dishes from around the world while fostering a collaborative and inclusive kitchen environment. The Campus Dining Manager ensures high-quality food and service standards for students, staff, faculty, and guests, including special events and conferences.

Essential Duties:
  • Supervise all campus dining teams, including kitchen and caf staff and student interns, ensuring team members feel valued and empowered to contribute to delivering an exceptional dining and beverage experience.
  • Provide mentorship and inspiration, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity thrives.
  • Train and oversee kitchen and caf staff on portion sizes, storage temperatures, and food and beverage safety standards.
  • Develop and execute diverse menus to meet the tastes and dietary needs of the campus community, collaborating with Lead Cooks and Baristas to update menus regularly.
  • Implement SOPs for meal preparation, beverage preparation, food safety, and kitchen and caf cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with health and sanitation regulations, including HACCP principles.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on food and beverage safety, allergen management, and hygiene practices.
  • Manage food and beverage inventory, purchasing, and cost control to meet budgetary goals, implementing efficient inventory practices and assessing food and beverage quality.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to plan and execute special events, catering services, and themed dining experiences.
  • Stay current with food and beverage trends and industry best practices, continuously innovating dining and beverage offerings.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions, clearly communicating job expectations and conducting employee reviews.
  • Prepare the team for shifts, supervising workflow to ensure timely task completion.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as time-off requests, payroll, invoicing, and financial reporting, maintaining relationships with external vendors.
  • Attend operational meetings for conferences and events, maintaining staff work schedules and conducting regular meetings.
  • Resolve issues by identifying quality and process improvements, setting customer service standards, and preparing action plans.
  • Oversee the preparation and serving of specialty drinks in the caf, ensuring baristas are trained in creating high-quality beverages.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for baristas on beverage preparation techniques, customer service, and safety practices.
  • Develop and execute beverage menus that offer a variety of specialty drinks, catering to the diverse tastes of the campus community.
Qualifications

  • Proficiency in operating Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Availability of extended hours and weekend shifts during conferences.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage industry standards, food safety, and hygiene.
Requirements:
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Charis Bible College graduate is preferred.
  • A culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary school is preferred.
  • Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, or other comparable experience in a high-volume food service operation, preferably in a college or university setting.
  • Strong culinary skills with proficiency in preparing a wide range of international cuisines.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, demonstrating culinary expertise and leadership capabilities.
  • Previous experience in a college or university dining setting is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
