Responsibilities
The Plumbing Engineer is responsible for the production of thorough and concise computer-generated engineering drawings;
Create and prepare designs for plumbing and medical gas systems;
Able to perform load calculations as well as product specifications;
Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents;
Design plumbing systems including water, sanitary, storm, diesel distribution, natural gas distribution, medical gas, and specialty lab gas systems;
Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and prepare green rating system documentation;
Assist in spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systems;
Deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, design build;
Process contractor submittals andRFIs;
Perform on site condition surveys;
Provide mentoring and direction to junior members of the project team or engineering discipline;
Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design;
Consistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry;
Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions;
Assist in the procurement of high-quality work; including marketing / proposal efforts and project interviews;
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Science & Technology;
Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business;
Perform and maintain thorough QA/QC on all phases of projects.
Qualifications
Professional Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture Engineering required;
EIT required and the ability to sit for P.E. License within 12 months;
5+ years of experience;
LEED AP BD+C preferred;
Familiarity with BIM;
Maintain technical competence by staying current on appropriate codes and technologies;
Proficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for engineering design and documentation, including Revit;
Thorough understanding of plumbing engineering systems;
General understanding of engineering principles and systems within other disciplines;
Monitors & manages project budgets to ensure cost effective delivery;
Expertise in an area of concentration;
Effective communication skills (written and oral);
Demonstrated thoroughness in design coordination and contract document development in plumbing systems for commercial and/or industrial buildings;
Demonstrated record of consistent quality work;
Able to work with little or no supervision;
Ability to foster teamwork;
Business development capabilities, commercial/financial awareness;
Demonstrated knowledge in sustainable building design.
