Lead Mechanical Facilities Engineer

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Facilities Engineer to develop HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems for various critical and support projects. This position requires the planning, execution, and coordination of detailed design phases, as well as the creation of construction specifications and quality assurance oversight.
Key Duties:
- Design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems, including calculations, process flow diagrams, and layout of equipment along with associated duct and piping systems.
- Create mechanical construction and equipment specifications, testing and inspection plans, and system design descriptions.
- Utilize standard techniques for simpler projects and adapt methods for more complex tasks.
- Conduct engineering quality assurance evaluations of project designs.
- Assist in new project proposals with mechanical discipline scopes, budget estimates, and timelines.
- Collaborate with and present designs to Federal, State, and Local government clients.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team, coordinating tasks with engineers, designers, and administrative personnel.
- Occasional travel to other offices or project sites, including international travel, may be necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program.
- At least 12 years of relevant experience.
- PE License.
- Capability and willingness to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
- Proficient in HVAC and plumbing/piping systems design and related engineering calculations (e.g., air-handling systems, laboratory fume hood exhaust systems, duct systems, hydronic piping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and wastewater systems, steam and condensate systems, compressed air systems, and mechanical controls).
- Experience in sizing and selecting HVAC and plumbing/piping equipment (e.g., air-handling units, fans, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, coils, HEPA filters, dampers, valves, and controls).
- Skilled in drafting and writing mechanical construction and equipment specifications.
- Familiarity with HVAC computer load and design software such as Trane Trace; knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards, as well as IMC, IPC, and IBC codes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current passport.
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) clearance.
- LEED or Green Globes accreditation is advantageous.
