Description

As a Buyer I with Sherman & Reilly, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the necessary materials, components, and sub-assemblies required to manufacture our products in an effective and efficient manner. This role focuses on strengthening supplier relationships, executing inventory objectives, and driving projects to support supply chain excellence with an emphasis on quality, delivery, and cost.

The Buyer I will be responsible for procurement of, but not limited to, the following commodities: indirect purchases, trailer and cab parts and accessories, electrical parts, hardware, and mechanical, powertrain, and running gear components.

Reporting Structure

This position will report to the Supply Chain Manager. This position will work closely with Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Service, and interface effectively with all levels and departments within the organization.

Requirements

  • Develops a strong understanding and knowledge of assigned components, suppliers and capabilities
  • Utilizes MRP to plan and purchase assigned components ensuring all parts are delivered to specification at negotiated prices to allow on time production.
  • Manages assigned supplier relationships to ensure components meet the quality, delivery, cost, service, and performance standards of Sherman + Reilly. Communicates supplier performance to management.
  • Creates, analyzes, and processes requests for quotes.
  • Maintains accurate pricing data within SAP, negotiates pricing with suppliers, and procures components from other vendors as needed.
  • Maintains planning parameters for assigned components in SAP.
  • Resolves and prevents invoice discrepancies with accounts payable and suppliers.
  • Identifies, implements, and tracks cost savings opportunities.
  • Works cross functionally to identify continuous improvement opportunities and execute engineering changes as needed.
  • Represents supply chain on functional sub-teams as assigned.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of purchasing or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience procuring components for off-road utility vehicles.
  • Experience effectively using MRP systems to gather and analyze data to assure items needed are procured in a timely manner per the specifications required for manufacturing.
  • Capacity to logically solve problems and manage projects by utilizing a data-driven, detail-oriented, approach.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively.
  • Strong Microsoft skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Power BI
  • Proven use of negotiation techniques and tactics.
  • Self-motivated flexible team-player, with the persistence to following through on commitments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
