DMU is seeking a Patient Service Representative (PSR) who provides support to the various clinic departments and serves as the main point of contact for patients both in person and on the phone. The PSR communicates with patients in a warm, friendly manner to obtain information needed for scheduling and registering patients. The PSR ensures that all demographics and insurance information is collected and correctly entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The PSR also collects copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and outstanding balances at the time of check-in. This position is part time as needed (PRN). What you’ll do: Greet patients, visitors and students; provide friendly customer support; ascertain nature of business, escort visitors as needed. Answer and screen telephone calls; take detailed messages, determine their priority and route them appropriately. Schedule patient appointments according to department guidelines. Accurately register patients, verify insurance and obtain and document authorizations as needed. Collect all copays, deductibles and payments owed to DMU. Provide receipts and reconcile collections daily. Responsible for daily deposits and maintaining petty cash. What we’re looking for: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; preference for additional training or education associated with the medical field. Front office work experience in a medical office preferred. Experience with third-party payer regulations is desired.
