Job Description:
This job is responsible for performing more complex analysis aimed at improving portfolio risk, profitability, performance forecasting, and operational performance for consumer products and related divisions, such as credit cards. Key responsibilities include applying knowledge of multiple business and technical-related topics and independently driving strategic improvements, large-scale projects, and initiatives. Job expectations include working with business counterparts within the Line of Business and partner organizations including Risk and Product teams.

The Strategy Decision Engine (SDE) Development team is part of the Credit Assistance organization. This role is responsible for developing processes to support strategic collections and recovery efforts for US Consumer Card, Consumer Lending, Small Business, Deposit, Consumer Vehicle Lending, and Home Loan products.

The SDE programmer is directly responsible for designing, developing, debugging, testing, and integrating campaigns or modifying existing rules within our decision engine platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Working with Credit Assistance strategy change owners to review business requirements and provide a sizing estimate for the requested change
  • Partner with the Operations team, Data Administration team, and Technology partners to define data and functional requirements necessary for a process to be implemented
  • Participate in project working group meetings with various lines of businesses that impact the Strategy Decision Engine platform and communicate project status updates to the executive leadership team
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance Validation team and Control teams for functional and UAT testing for any required changes
  • Work with the Project Management teams to provide accurate and timely updates on coding progress and drive continuous improvement and own and communicate importance of operational effectiveness
  • Support the Platform Management team to migrate campaigns to production as well as assist with triaging production issues impacting the Strategy Decision Engine
  • Performs complex analysis of financial models, market data, financial data, and portfolio trends to understand product performance and improve portfolio risk, profitability, performance forecasting, and operational performance
  • Coaches and mentors peers to improve proficiency in a variety of systems and serves as a subject matter expert on multiple business and technical-related topics
  • Identifies business trends based on economic and portfolio conditions and communicates findings to senior management
  • Supports execution of large scale projects, such as platform conversions or new project integrations by conducting advanced reporting and drawing analytics based insights
Required Qualifications:
  • The candidate must be an intermediate to advanced level programmer in SAS and SQL (SAS certification is a plus)
  • Previous experience with SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, and Hadoop data sources and knowledge of data source structures/models
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is critical
  • Must have exceptional organizational and communication skills and have a strong attention to detail
  • Possesses a fundamental degree of knowledge of data sources, business products, operational processes, and understands how data is utilized for production segmentation processes
Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with any SAS products: SAS Marketing Automation, SAS Marketing Optimization, SAS Viya, SAS Engage Direct, SAS Intelligent Decisioning, SAS Information map or comparable decision engines
  • Previous experience with Experian Power Curve
  • Previous experience working within the Bank of America data infrastructure (BACARDI, The W, SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop databases, etc.)
