Controls Engineer

Develops operation manuals that detail the functionality and set-up of the equipment being designed or modified Examines and understands supplied specifications in order to ensure the functionality of the equipment meets these specifications Ensures the equipment being started up and commissioned operates in accordance with the requirements as outlined in the approved specification, as well as other industry accepted practices in the event the specification doesn't meet a particular code Performs preventative maintenance as requested to ensure minimum down-time and optimum operation of machines and equipment Assists with checking design and details for proper functionality of both his/her work and the work of other engineers Performs all required maintenance of automation programs and make changes as needed Aids in the development of the automation and other continuous improvement projects Troubleshoot electrical problems using electrical schematics, programs, and meters Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving skills Intermediate understanding of electrical circuits, conduit routing and wiring, electrical panel design, pneumatic design, hydraulic design, PLC's, HMI's, robot programming, VFD's (Variable Frequency Drive), servo application's, visual inspection systems, measurement sensors(contact and non-contact), and device communication networks (EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, RS-232) Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office programs Ability to meet deadlines without endangering the safety of himself/herself or others, or the integrity of the equipment Ability to consider all facets of a project and assemble a plan to demonstrate the time and resources required to complete the project Ability to interact professionally and maintain a positive working relationship, which at times may be under difficult circumstances and/or high-pressure situations.Occasional non-traditional working hours may be required due to the nature of manufacturing Able to review, interpret and create electrical designs, drawings and specifications Suggest design/process changes to ensure simple, functional and cost effective results Create Equipment Control Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Electrical Panel Layouts (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) Compile Installation Bill of Materials and Equipment Cut Sheets Knowledge of safety circuits Knowledge of analog control signalsEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
