Overview:

The role entails overseeing crucial Accounting Services Departments to optimize workflow efficiency and processes, while nurturing personnel growth through training, goal establishment, and consistent feedback. Responsibilities encompass ensuring the accuracy of accounting for all materials and supplies related to plant operations, daily production reporting, purchasing activities, and product pricing, while supervising the daily operations of the accounting department.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day operations of Accounts Payable, providing guidance to staff, driving process development and improvement, and managing department supervisors and other direct reports.
  • Monitor inventory transaction reports for the plant on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Support the achievement of each department's objectives and annual goals.
  • Provide developmental support for departmental supervisors and other direct reports by establishing and tracking goals and competency progress.
  • Assist department supervisors in resolving queries and issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company.
  • Assist in implementing and training on software used for corporate transactional accounting systems, focusing on enhancing and streamlining existing processes.
  • Prepare accounting entries, monthly reports, and month-end reconciliations.
  • Review monthly general ledger activity for trade spending accounts.
  • Assist the accounting department with software-related queries/issues.
  • Approve department expenses as required.
  • Coordinate audit processes and follow-up procedures with internal and external auditors.
  • Compile and submit information for all required department/corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and meetings.
  • Execute assigned SOX duties promptly and effectively, taking corrective actions if any assigned SOX duties reveal ineffectiveness/non-compliance in addressing the intended risk control.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 5-10 years of previous work experience in Accounting Services and/or Manufacturing Accounting, preferably in the Consumer-Packaged Goods Industry.
  • Familiarity with accounting/inventory systems and manufacturing processes, with preferred Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience in leadership/supervisory roles.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office; adept at using pivot tables.
  • Prior experience with SAP is desirable.
  • Previous experience with JD Edwards, Prism software, and AS400 is preferred.
