Position Description: The primary responsibilities of a Lead Electrical Engineer include working as a key team member on projects from the planning phase through design and construction. A Lead Electrical Engineer shall be capable of independently and collaboratively contributing to the design and development of project plans and specifications while working with project team members. Lead Engineers typically provide direction and coordination of electrical design for projects in addition to supervising and mentoring subordinate engineers and designers. Additional responsibilities may include taking on the role of the project engineer/representative in the field during the construction of projects. Qualifications: Bachelor or Masters in Electrical Engineering required. Professional Engineer Registration required or the ability to obtain registration within 6 months. 5 to 10 years of experience as an electrical project engineer preferred. Experience with Civil electrical and water/wastewater electrical engineering is a plus. Experience with process instrumentation and control engineering is a plus. Experience with industrial clients is a plus. Must have advanced knowledge of electrical engineering and design and be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents. Must be detail-orientated and self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have experience as a project lead on complex, multi-disciplined engineering design projects. Proficient in using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2017 or newer. Revit experience a plus. A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one is required. Physical Requirements: Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions. Required to work in an outdoor environment during construction season. Required to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must work scheduled and required hours. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Tasks and Duties: Provide professional electrical engineering services for clients by providing: planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management. Delegate and supervise project tasks to CADD Technicians, Graduate Engineers, and Field Technicians on the project team. Communicate frequently and effectively with other Apex team members on a consistent basis by providing updates and progress during all phases of projects. Attend company meetings, project meetings, and client meetings on a regular basis. Effective communication skills with the public will be required in settings such as public involvement meetings, informational meetings, construction notifications, etc. Effectively deal with potentially difficult or confrontational situations with clients and/or contractors. Understand and follow company CADD procedures and client CADD procedures when required. Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies. Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs as requested. Travel and out of town stays may be required. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
