Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the benedictine tradition, is seeking a Senior Associate Director of Advancement Services to join the

College Advancement team. Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, the Senior Associate Director of Advancement Services will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, and long-range and short-term planning and operations for the areas of: gift processing, financial reporting and management, data and donor analysis, endowment reporting information, and facilitation of donor financial communications in both electronic and hard copy formats. The Senior Associate Director will develop and execute strategies to ensure that College Advancement follows best practices for gift processing and financial reconciliation. The Senior Associate Director, Advancement Services will act as the chief business and financial officer for College Advancement at Saint Anselm College.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight for receiving, recording and receipting charitable gifts to Saint Anselm College; troubleshoot unusual or unfamiliar gift situations with gift officers to ensure donor gift intentions. Ensure data, reports, and gifts are processed and acknowledged appropriately.
  • Serve as the chief liaison for the Controller's office to provide regular gift information and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, in addition to providing support for the college's annual financial audit.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of the Advancement Services Coordinator. Provide advice, assistance and training as needed to keep the team current with all advancement services professional standards.
  • Provide support for donor stewardship projects and gift acknowledgments for high level donors, including assisting with correspondence for the Senior Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer and other Advancement leadership staff.
  • When required, generate complex donor lists, gift reports, and financial information for the College Advancement staff or other requesting departments, external agencies and individuals.
  • Work with the Director of Advancement Services to develop and maintain a series of system audit reports that regularly review data and computer-generated reports to 1) confirm accuracy of financial data and 2) identify potential problems with software and custom processes and reports.
  • Develop and maintain College Advancement training program to facilitate understanding of gift recording procedures for new staff. Provide ongoing training for existing staff.
  • Establish and maintain all policy and procedure documentation and a systems user manual with Saint Anselm College's official financial procedures and best practices.
  • In partnership with the Director of Advancement Services, assist with ideas and implementation for capturing and updating constituent information; manage an accurate mailing/reporting calendar and production log for College projects requiring support from College Advancement.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of department or office administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students, and staff, and handling of all departmental requests.
  • Work with the Director of Advancement Services to compile and review lists for electronic and hard copy mailings. Facilitate sending these communications as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field, business administration preferred.
  • Three to five years related work experience in a development office environment, non-profit setting, or in the management of an integrated database with a combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Knowledge of relevant gift reporting requirements to insure compliance with IRS and CASE reporting standards.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge. Experience with Workday, NetCommunity. and GiveCampus software preferred.
  • Experience with development and presentation of training programs.
  • Ability to be organized, reliable, prioritize workload, and have excellent time-management skills in order to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work closely with and effectively communicate with other staff members to ensure accuracy and integrity of their work.
  • Critical thinking, good judgment, attention to detail and knowledge of the College, Alumni Relations, Development, and their goals are essential.
  • Ability to identify key elements of processes in order to clearly document procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills, demonstrated ability to interact professionally with alumni, faculty and staff.
