Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to provide weekly, and monthly (month end close) support with a focus on intercompany accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and process improvement in line with Story's standard operating procedures.

  • Assists the VP & Controller and Asst. Controllers in driving the Month-End Close process for multiple entities.
  • Participates and at time supervises daily accounting department tasks.
  • Prepares and/or reviews appropriate ledger entries and accruals, with a primary focus on intercompany charges, cost sharing, owner distributions and contributions, intercompany debt and interest calculations, and eliminations.
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of all assigned balance sheet and profit/loss accounts, databases, and files, including the completion and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and applicable income statement accounts.
  • Collaborates with the accounting, legal, and treasury teams, and to design, document, implement, and monitor processes that establish controls, ownership, and accountability of involved parties related to intercompany cost sharing arrangements, and payments.
  • Maintains accounting for companies intercompany cost sharing. Allocates costs across business units and serves as primary accounting lead for the program.
  • As needed, performs consistent periodic analysis of intercompany costs and creates and modifies cost sharing models and agreements in coordination with accounting and legal senior management.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested, including the implementation of intercompany due to and due from account maintenance within new ERP system (Sage), as well as implementing advanced elimination functionality.
  • Works closely with the accounting team, external auditors, and tax accountants during quarter and year end close to support reporting & regulatory requirements and provide financial commentary and supporting schedules as requested.
Requirements
  • Experience in intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidations, with exposure to many other areas of accounting including but not limited to inventory valuations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash/revenue, fixed assets, and accruals.
  • Understanding of the principles of vertically integrated inventory manufacturing and retail sales processes, and public company audit compliance.
  • Provide support and training to accounting peers and other team leaders.
  • Experience working in a highly computerized environment and processing financial transactions using and/or implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and/or accounting software. Sage Intact experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Self-starter that places an emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and work product ownership, with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Professional written and verbal communication with multiple levels and departments.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and honest.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in business or accounting. CPA or CPA Candidate preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience, as well as corporate accounting experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of intercompany accounting, eliminations, and consolidations.
  • Manufacturing and/or Retail experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
