Pay Range: $24.99/hour - $31.34/hour

Shift: 1st Shift starting at 6:00 AM

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, safety vests provided. Safety boots over the ankle (6-inch) required; expense up to $150 with receipt.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer II to support the testing and control of raw materials and finished product quality, ensuring compliance with company standards and applicable government regulations. This is an on-site role with the majority of time spent on the production floor working on equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation Support: Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
  • Supervision: Oversee contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades during equipment installation and conversion.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, and design documentation for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Documentation: Create and modify existing documentation, including drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specifications.
  • Procurement: Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
  • Vendor Liaison: Specify or recommend vendors and maintain close liaison between vendors and the plant.
  • Redesign Components: Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation costs, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
  • Work Orders: Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and/or outside contract trades.
  • Set-Up and Debug: Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations.
  • Training: Provide training to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades on new equipment installation procedures.
  • Analysis: Analyze and correct equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies and develop cost-reduction plans for installation projects.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and manufacturing quality tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong technical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well in small teams.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Project Management with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in using Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and strong knowledge of mechanical drive trains, and electrical and pneumatic actuators.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle varied job requirements.
  • Commercial awareness and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Proficiency in Windows, MS Office suite, AutoCAD 2023, Inventor 2023, MS Project, Pneumatic systems and schematics, Motion Control systems, and Automated equipment systems.
