| Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement, in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon.

Job Purpose

| The Financial Reporting Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for the organization. This position is responsible for preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and providing insights to support decision-making. The Financial Reporting Officer will work closely with the finance team to maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

| 12 months with Possible to extension Key Responsibilities Donor Reporting and Compliance: Review donor agreements, terms, and conditions to ensure understanding and compliance with reporting requirements.

Develop and maintain a timetable to meet reporting deadlines for each donor.

Provide timely reminders to programs and finance teams regarding upcoming reporting deadlines.

Support the finance team in preparing donor financial reports in accordance with accounting standards, donor requirements, and organizational policies.

Follow up on donor requirements and address any changes related to the revised budgets.

Convert concept notes into detailed financial plans and budgets.

Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budget reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Communicate with internal staff in program and finance departments to gather necessary financial data.

Develop and maintain financial models to facilitate forecasting and budgeting processes.

Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Audit Support and Compliance: Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Provide documentation and support during audit procedures, including responding to auditor inquiries and requests.

Monitoring the implementation recommendations from audit findings to improve financial controls and processes.

Financial Systems and Process Improvement: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of financial systems and processes, recommending improvements as necessary.

Provide training and support to staff on financial reporting tools and procedures.

Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial reporting.

Participate in projects and initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.

Communication and Collaboration: Communicate financial results and insights to line manager, management in a clear and concise manner.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data accuracy and consistency across the organization.

Serve as a resource for financial reporting inquiries and provide guidance to colleagues as needed.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director - Finance and Operations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

Extensive years of professional experience in finance and accounting and reporting.

Knowledge of general accounting principles and production and interpretation of management accounts.

Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.

Skills and abilities Strong communications, interpersonal, organization, and listening skills.

Good interpersonal skills – able to deal diplomatically and flexibly with a range of different people;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic;

Knowledge Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel (or other spreadsheets) and word processing.

Good understanding of and sensitivity to the regional/local context;

Personal attributes and other requirements Committed to MAP’s aims and values;

Highly organised self-starter, able to work alone or as part of a team.

Ability to travel in the WB with a Valid Driving License.
