Job Summary

The Director of Business Process and Analysis creates detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions for assigned department. Translates business data into meaningful information that improves departmental processes. Creates presentations, proposals, project plans, policies, and procedures to assist in transformation efforts of the department such as process redesign, establishing and meeting KPIs, and creating operational savings. Supervises a team of analysts.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver various daily, weekly, and quarterly reports for the department as well as performance measurement for key strategic outsourcing vendors.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Drive strategy to transform data into “Actionable Insights.”
  • Work across the departments to identify and implement solutions to address any gaps or failure points within existing business processes.
  • Develop and drive strategy and plans for implementation in coordination with department heads.
  • Implement process and track metrics that will introduce efficiencies in how teams work, make decisions and report activities.
  • Developing manuals, user guides, and updating procedures.
  • Confer with personnel to assure smooth function of newly implemented systems or procedures.
  • Provide business reports which can be used by business leaders to Identify opportunities to create savings and reduce waste.
  • Ensure organized approach to developing data warehouse enabling accurate reporting and maintaining database files.
  • Establish data analytics best practices.
  • Understand contracts and contract management.
  • Implement a comprehensive management plan for each project and hold regular stakeholder meetings to keep all stakeholders updated on project progress.
  • Determine and document user requirements for business processes.
  • Supervises team of analysts, responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
  • Perform related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the MBTA including the EEO, anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-retaliation policies.
  • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.

Supervision

  • Supervises a team of analysts.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business or related technical field.
  • Seven (7) years of related work experience providing data analytics, reporting, process improvement, project management.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a staff supervisory or major program management.
  • Experience in managing, coaching, and developing a team.
  • Advanced database management and maintenance skills.
  • Practical application ability with Microsoft Office, Power Point and Tableau.
  • Strong experience in business analytics and reporting.
  • Ability to manage moderate sized projects and cross functional teams.
  • Ability to collaborate across complex organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint applications.
  • The ability to pass the MBTA Advanced Excel and PowerPoint test.
  • Effective organizational, multitasking, time management and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak to large audiences and facilitate meetings.
  • Lead and promote data focused culture and will be key stakeholder in enhancing our data reporting capabilities.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Have excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.

Substitutions Include

  • A High School Diploma or GED with an additional seven (7) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor’s degree requirement.
  • An associate degree from an accredited institution an additional three (3) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor’s degree requirement.
  • A master’s degree in a related subject substitutes for two (2) years of general experience.
  • A nationally recognized certification, or statewide/professional certification in a related field substitutes for one year of experience.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • MBA or other higher degree.
  • Experience and knowledge of business process redesign.
  • Experience working with interactive data visualization products such as Tableau.
