The Dean of Students position at our non-profit, charter school in the Cleveland Central Neighborhood is a key leadership role responsible for creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. As the Dean of Students, you will play a pivotal role in promoting student well-being, fostering a strong school culture, and supporting the academic and social-emotional development of our diverse student body.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote a positive school climate and student engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to address student behavior and discipline-related matters in a fair and consistent manner.
- Provide guidance and support to students in navigating social and emotional challenges, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student attendance and work with families and community resources to address any barriers to regular school attendance.
- Collaborate with the school leadership team to develop and implement school-wide policies and procedures to ensure a supportive and productive learning environment.
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and addressing concerns or issues promptly.
- Coordinate and oversee extracurricular activities, student clubs, and events that enhance student engagement and school spirit.
- Stay up to date with educational best practices, research, and legislation related to student support and well-being.
- Bachelor's degree in education required (Master's degree preferred).
- Education administrative license is required
- Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with students in elementary and middle school grades.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of student behavior management strategies and techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to student discipline, attendance, and well-being.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
Applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment screening process upon receipt of an offer of employment.
