Overview

The Plant Purchasing Specialist is the owner of daily processes needed to purchase production materials from suppliers, from order generation through the receipt and use of the product. This position interacts frequently with outside suppliers and multiple departments within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Multi-site purchasing responsibilities
  • Purchase stock items and special-order items from suppliers using the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (DMSi Agility)
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for stock items
  • Review order confirmations for accuracy and ETA
  • Processing and analysis of system generated inventory reports that improve communication and track relevant information
  • Transfer of production material between branches
  • Participates in the development of standard operating procedures for purchasing related activity
  • Assist in maintaining direct material cost updates per standard operating procedures
  • Partner with business functional areas and suppliers on new product development
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish and maintain scheduled tasks
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Flexibility in an ever-changing environment and have a willingness to be cooperative in day-to-day activities
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and negotiating skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business related field or equivalent combination of education and 1-2 years of relevant work experience preferably in manufacturing
  • Previous experience with ERP system preferred.
