The Avionics System & Integration Engineer will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas. RESPONSIBILITIES:The Avionics System and Integration Engineer will be managing the SE activities the Communication Low Orbit Project (Comm LEO).Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents.Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering.Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities.Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications.Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process.Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation.Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements.Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews.Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance.Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware.Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses.Work and present schedule and progress to customers.Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Other duties as assigned. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area. Must have 2+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related area.Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies including model-based systems engineering.Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.DESIRED:Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/PaperworkExperience with NASA processes.WORK LOCATION: This position is located onsite. This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off. This position may require some travel. May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
