Job Title: Finance Specialist

1. JOB PURPOSE

The basic functions of the Finance Specialist are to process the day-to-day accounting tasks for the organization and to support analysis for reporting to guide management in the business decision-making process necessary to facilitate the achievement of desired business results on a weekly, quarterly, and monthly basis.

2. duties & responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
  • Assist with month and year-end close
  • Copying, scanning, filing, and obtaining signatures for various grant programs
  • Process incoming mail concerning billing and invoicing
  • Account Payable - Credit card, receipt tracking, invoice entry, weekly check runs
  • Account receivable - depositing checks, deposit entries, invoicing
  • Reconcile payable reports to ensure all amounts paid were accurate
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts payable
  • Maintain a system to account for financial transactions by following a chart of accounts
  • Maintain the accuracy of accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
  • Balance accounts by reconciling entries in a timely fashion
  • Organize and update relevant data using computer applications
  • Accurately and efficiently type and word-process various documents and electronic information
  • Maintain historical records
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Actively participate in mandatory Club training and All Staff meetings

•Occasionally may be required to work special events promoted by the organization

•Support other projects as needed

•Completes any additional assignments as requested by the management staff

•Support other staff with projects as needed

•Work closely with the Director of Finance and Comptroller

•Complete any additional assignments as requested by Management

3. Qualifications
BACKGROUND SCREENING
•Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families.

•Must pass pre-employment drug test

Certifications
•Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
•Associate Degree, two or more years of accounting or finance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.

•Sage Software experience is preferred

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
  • Sage knowledge
  • Working experience in accounts payable, G/L
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, and percentages
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and team members
  • Non-profit and/or Charitable Foundation skills helpful
  • Ability to consistently meet all deadlines
Travel
Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes.

4. Working conditions

Our offices, neighborhood clubhouses, and school-based clubs are fast-paced work environments and are strategically located in areas of St. Lucie County where youth need us most. Based on the organization's needs, flexibility to work different schedules and work in different locations in St. Lucie County is required due to changing business demands. 5. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping/kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, and finger dexterity.

•This position requires extended talking, listening, sitting, walking, and standing; computer viewing, and keyboard entry. Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds.

•Daily operation of personal motor vehicles relevant to carrying out job duties is required for this position.

•Ability to think strategically and ability to sit for more than four hours per day.
