Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Imports and Exports to join our team in Stamford, CT. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of international trade operations, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and maintaining strong relationships with third-party suppliers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in customs and documentation, as well as a proven track record of managing complex import and export processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all import and export operations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and company policies.
  2. Prepare and manage all necessary documentation for customs clearance, including bills of lading, certificates of origin, and commercial invoices.
  3. Maintain and develop strong relationships with third-party suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
  4. Coordinate with internal departments, such as purchasing, finance, and logistics, to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of goods.
  5. Monitor and analyze trade data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
  6. Implement and manage efficient processes for import and export activities to optimize costs and improve efficiency.
  7. Stay up-to-date with changes in trade regulations and ensure the company’s operations comply with all relevant laws and standards.
  8. Resolve any issues related to customs clearance, shipping delays, or other logistical challenges.
  9. Train and mentor team members on best practices in international trade and compliance.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in import and export management, with a strong focus on customs and documentation.
  3. Must have experience interacting with international governments and managing audits
  4. In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
  5. Proven ability to manage relationships with third-party suppliers and service providers.
  6. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with trade management software.
  9. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in the consumer goods industry.
  2. Professional certification in international trade or customs brokerage.
