CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary responsibility for monthly review of the internal billing process for all grant funded programs. Ensures that all Vendors billing is correct and supported with proper back-up documentation by state and federal mandates, and district approved contracts. The CPA will oversee all Grant Department Personnel. QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum qualifications for the position of Certified Public Accountant are:
  • Prefer CPA, CFA and/or Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Diversified accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Collections and billing experience.
  • Experience with auditing procedures.
  • Communication, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Federal and State Grant Experience
  • Excellent integrity and good moral character and initiative
REPORTS TO: Business Administrator

WORK ASSIGNMENTS: The CPA will be assigned to work with the Business Office to review and approve all Grants Office procedures. The CPA will approve all grant office requests needs BOE approval, and all Level 1 Purchase Orders. The CPA will ensure that all proper back-up documentation is received prior to payment being made and prior to the approval of level 2 Purchase Orders. Job Requirements:
  • Analyze vendor invoices and other financial information for accuracy.
  • Review monthly billing spreadsheets regarding payment for services rendered.
  • Direct attention to and recommend appropriate corrective actions regarding billing.
  • Provide analytical explanation of actual to budget variances.
  • Assist in the budgeting and grant application process prior to seeking final approval from the Business Administrator.
  • Provide vendors with timely explanation of variances between billing invoices and services rendered.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of web based accounting systems.
  • Possess the intellect, passion, and experience applying advanced knowledge in the mechanical, analytical, and strategic aspects of accounting.
  • Advanced administrative, organizational, time management, and follow-up skills
  • Detail oriented, self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with little supervision


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month basis.
