**Buyer II (Mill)**

**MISSION / SUMMARY:**

This position is key to secure goods and/or services for the facility in accordance with purchasing policy and delegated authority. The successful candidate will understand and align business operations and Purchasing as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

**JOB FUNCTIONS:** *Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

* Provide prompt and professional purchasing services to internal customers by communicating effectively with all Operating Departments, Engineering, Stores and Maintenance areas

* Evaluate and process material and contractor requisitions to ensure stable supply and timely availability

* Ensure purchased goods and services are of acceptable quality and meet established specifications

* Prepare and publish specifications for bids, evaluate and document bid responses/results, verify history of supplier service and ability to meet contract specifications and negotiate contracts

* Support and expand an effective supplier base

* Evaluate and recommend new suppliers based on quality, service, and competitive pricing

* Implementation of Corporate sourcing agreements and strategies

* Track and report supplier performance

* Pursue opportunities to leverage buying power of the paper mill and company

* Ensure adherence to financial and purchasing policies and procedures

**BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:**

* Minimum of (5) years heavy manufacturing procurement experience (bidding, negotiations, administration of contracts and agreements)

* Effective written & verbal communication skills are essential for success

* Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook required

* SAP Business Software or similar ERP experience required

* Demonstrated leadership skills

**EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:**

* BA or BS degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance or Business Administration preferred

**SCHEDULE DEMANDS:**

* General schedule is an 8-hour Monday through Friday

* Willing to work additional hours as needed, including weekends and other off hours based on the demands of operations (the paper mill is a continuous process operating 24/7)

* Occasional travel

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**

* Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours

* Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs

* Reading computer screens or other electronic devices

* Required to wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses and hearing protecting when in manufacturing areas (company provided)
