Where you will work:The Augusta mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavyweight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity.This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years.Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day.The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper's largest paperboard facility and is critical to the success of our strategy and future. Augusta, Georgia is a vibrant community along the Georgia/South Carolina border about 150 miles east of Atlanta and 70 miles west of Columbia.Augusta offers a variety of experiences - something for everyoneThe area offers historical attractions, recreational activities, music, family festivals, and other unforgettable experiences for fun with a hometown feel.Downtown Augusta is home to many of Augusta's most popular attractions, locally owned restaurants, and nightlife. What you will do:
The Buyer II will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
- Provides prompt and professional purchasing services to internal customers.
- Handles requisitions to ensure cost effective and timely availability of services and materials.
- Prepares and publishes bid specifications, evaluate responses, and negotiates purchases and contracts.
- Coordinates new vendor on-boarding, including insurance and other administrative requirements.
- Reviews all contracts with the Corporate legal team.
- Supports purchasing manager with supplier relationships, including monitoring of payments.
- Executes buying strategies.
- Supports mill operations and maintenance on scheduled weekends.
- Other departmental requirements/functions and duties as assigned.

- Four-year college degree in business (preferred)
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in Purchasing, Material Management or Stores related field.
- Industrial/manufacturing experience required.
- SAP Business Software Knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Leadership skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent initiative to achieve department and organization goals.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours
- Frequent, bending, stooping, squatting, as well as frequent movement throughout the facility for extended periods of time
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office, hand tools or electrical equipment
- Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment.
- Exposure to airborne particles and times of increased heat and humidity.
- High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises
