Your Impact
The principal purpose of the Sr. Manager Accounting – Margin & Cost Accounting is to lead a team responsible for vendor funding related transactions to enable accurate financial and management reporting. This includes managing and reviewing work for financial activities to ensure accounting records are correct, as well as performing work first-hand for certain, more complex financial activities. The role is also responsible for planning and forecasting certain financial lines within the margin.
This role will serve as a primary representative for the accounting team in discussions around certain initiatives and as a key contact for questions related to margin items within financial and management reporting. To be effective in this role, the candidate should work across various functions to resolve issues and provide solutions, focusing on maintaining accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.
What You Will Do
Leads a group responsible for the timely and accurate processing of financial activities requiring technical accounting knowledge specific to their respective area.
Manages and often performs complex analysis (historical, forecasting, impact, etc.) and timely reconciliations to support closing cycles;
Provides training, work product review, and development opportunities for the team to build accounting skillset and knowledge, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting and analysis;
Fosters collaborative, cross-functional relationships; delivers on customer and business needs by translating business needs into tactical action items; communicates effectively within the team and across other functions to ensure alignment and drive issue resolution; identifies opportunities for process improvement and additional transparency/business insights;
Prepares and/or reviews analyses in the Company’s financial reporting analysis packages and presents the content in management review meetings;
Serves as a subject matter expert when questions arise regarding the proper accounting treatment for transactions;
Works with internal and external auditors for transactions to provide required data and information for accuracy;
Designs and oversees testing around financial controls to support SOX compliance for respective financial area.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
7 years leading a team within an accounting function in a player/coach environment
Experience in either retail accounting or public accounting with exposure to retail
Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
MBA or Certified Public Accountant
Prior experience with vendor income, accounts payable, or revenue accounting
