Pourquoi a-t-on besoin de vous ?

Start your career at Saint-Gobain in a cross-functional environment, supporting multiple Ceramic Materials businesses and building connections between talented Ceramics R&D teams, then find your fit and a long-term role in one of those teams. Saint-Gobain employs over 300 researchers at its North American Research Center located in Northboro, MA, across multiple businesses. Specifically for Ceramic Materials, over 40 researchers in 5 teams conduct research and development on refractory materials and designed grains and powders that serve numerous industries, as well as exciting new products for decarbonization and energy-efficient solutions. Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials is looking for a researcher with experience in ceramics processing and experience/interest in thermomechanical and/or transport modeling to join Ceramics R&D.

The selected candidate, reporting to an on-site R&D Director, will spend an initial period (from 6 to 24 months) working on a mix of overarching and business-specific ceramics topics, learning from experienced research staff. Projects may include formulation, mixing/forming/firing process, and test method development, as well as implementation support at manufacturing facilities. In addition, projects may include finite element modeling, whereby manufacturing processes used to make products or the surface conditions to which products will be exposed are simulated. There are experienced modeling resources at the Northboro facility, and the intent is to grow this capability, with a focus on ceramics processing and performance.

The selected candidate is expected to deliver independent results on assigned projects while successfully integrating in a matrix organization. As such, the candidate must have demonstrated experience in conventional ceramics processing. This includes some aspects of particle characterization and processing, mixing, forming techniques, and thermal processes like curing, drying, and sintering. Experience in some aspects of statistical methods, data analysis, and coding/modeling is also required. Modeling may focus on heat transfer and thermomechanical stresses and viscoelastic response in elevated temperature systems, transport phenomenon in filtration or catalysis, and fluid dynamics in molten or suspension systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
