This may include a broad variety of advanced tests such as electrodiagnostic tests, exercises, and therapies. The incumbent works with patients and clients to develop treatment programs to assist in rehabilitation, health, fitness, and/or sports performance goals.Job EssentialsComplete a general evaluation on new patients to determine therapy/treatment needs and to help determine improvement goals. Where additional health problems or complications are involved the Exercise Therapist refers evaluations to Exercise Physiologist.Administer submaximal treadmill stress tests. Assist patients with prescribed therapeutic exercises.Adapt exercise programs, as appropriate, to help patient meet improvement goals.Accurately interprets EKGs and/or diagnostic tests.Provide basic education to patients on exercise programs, health needs, and risks.Complete appropriate documentation including evaluation reports and discharge summaries.Clean, maintain, and inspect exercise equipment. Report repair/maintenance needs.Coordinate care with other patient care providers, as appropriate, to ensure proper, continuous, and beneficial treatment.Respond appropriately to emergency situations.Completes assignments accurately and on time as directed by Manager/SupervisorReports to work at scheduled timeParticipate in evaluation of current practices, program improvement, and development of new procedures and practices to improve patient care.Enhance knowledge in field of practice and stay up to date on industry trends and changes.Evaluates new patients and clients to determine therapy/treatment/exercise program needs.Administers diagnostic stress tests, health risk appraisals, and/or fitness testing. Monitor's patient response.Develops exercise programs that appropriately address patient's short and long-term goals.Assist's patients with prescribed therapeutic and/or fitness/performance-related exercises.Thoroughly educates patients on their exercise program, health needs, and risks.May provide some mentoring, training, and orienting as needed.Mentors student interns as assigned by Exercise Physiologist II or lead over student interns.May provide some community fitness, health, and/or athletic performance training.Minimum QualificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providersKnowledge of exercise prescription and safe cardiovascular training methodsBachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field at an accredited institution (Degree will be verified).1 year of clinical experience in a Hospital setting EP EKG competency test completed and passedIf in a wellness setting, an advanced health and wellness certification and one year of experience working with special populations is required.Preferred QualificationACLS required prior to being eligible to proctor a stress test.If in a sports performance setting, ACSM-CCEP, or NSCA-CSCS certification is required within six months of hire.Physical Requirements:Carrying, Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Pulling/Pushing, Seeing, Speaking, Squatting/Kneeling.Anticipated job posting close date:08/23/2024Location:TOSHWork City:MurrayWork State:UtahScheduled Weekly Hours:40The hourly range for this position is listed below.
