Job Summary of the Student Life Internation and Graduate Specialist
  • Primary Role: The Specialist's primary role is to be ministry focused. The Student Life Department is a student facing department therefore the Specialist will be Student Focused in all they do. He/she will need to take opportunities to invest in students' lives and share the gospel through SL ministry opportunities regularly.
  • Primary Task: The Student Life International and Graduate Specialist works with the Student Life team to plan, executes, and coordinates the Student Life activities and events across campus. While actively helping in the various areas of the Student Life ministry they will focus on areas related to Student Organizations, Mentorship Groups, and planning assigned events each semester.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Participate in Ministry Opportunities
    • Be involved in a Student Life organized ministry opportunity each week during the semester.
    • Prayerfully foster and lead a discipleship group or a 1 to1 discipleship relationship.
  • Provide extracurricular events that enhance all students' social experience.
    • Plan and execute the Student Life Events as assigned by the director.
    • Using Microsoft Teams to create and maintain up-to-date event information files
  • Work with the Director to communicate with and provide support for Mentorship Groups and their members.
    • Help put groups together as students sign up.
    • Continue to develop group onboarding and tracking process
    • With the help of the communications team, promote MGs through different forms of media and at recruiting events throughout the year.
  • Support the SLI teams as they event plan
    • In conjunction with other team members, help train the SLI teams in event planning and execution
    • Support and offer guidance when necessary
  • Coordinate with local churches and ministries about on-campus opportunities
    • Plan and lead Fall and Spring Church Fair
    • Coordinate with churches to host Coke Breaks
    • Work with the director to launch pulpit supply and D-Now connection service
  • Plan the Student Life Event Calendar
    • This includes SLI events, Student Life events, student organization events, and events Student Life is asked to help with
    • Work with the director to coordinate the semester calendar with Student Services departments
      • Res. Life, TBC office, library, RAC, International Student Services, Women's Center, World Missions Center, President's Office, and each of the SWBTS Schools
    • Merge and communicate SL calendar with the Master Calendar.
  • Lead the administrative work that pertains to all Student Life related event planning
    • Serve as the direct liaison for your event setups and teardowns with the Office of Events Management
    • Take and maintain an accurate inventory of the SL closets and supply inventory
    • Manage Student Life event budget and process reimbursements and receipts
    • Create and place supply orders for items needed for all Student Life, SLI, and student organization events
      • Must obtain Director of Student Life approval
    • Deploy promotional pieces for SL, SLI, and student organization events/activities
  • Attend the weekly Student Life meetings
  • Provide daily oversight of the Naylor Student Center cleanliness, operation of TVs, the game room, and other areas of student usage
  • Perform other office-related duties as assigned
    • This includes retention calls, coworkers' tasks when needed, and overarching projects
  • Be a positive influence on student life culture on campus and be a visible leader
  • Provide general administrative support such as answering phone calls, writing and responding to emails, arranging meetings, managing calendars, filing and organizing office materials, ordering new supplies, etc.

Qualifications / Education:
  • Must be a current student at Texas Baptist College or Southwestern Seminary.
  • Prior ministry experience or entry-level ministry position in church preferred
  • Possess or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree

  • This position reports to the Director of Student Life
