Job Description As an essential member of the Chicago Office of Public Safety Administration (OPSA) Grants Division, under the direction of the Director of Grants Management, the Project Administrator will actively and substantially contribute to the management of the entire public safety grants portfolio by gaining technical knowledge of all public safety grant programs and specialist-level knowledge of grants under their responsibility. They will also be managing staff that are grants research specialists. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Writing grant application narratives and budget proposals. Run reports on expenditures and create timelines to track multiple projects and compliance and auditing requirements, presentation material, and supporting materials for requested actions. Communication with the Grantors, reporting requirements, drafting MOUs/agreements related to the grants, milestone updates and progress meetings with subject matter experts, setting up grants in the city’s finance system. Progress reports to the budget office. Researching new opportunities based on needs garnered from strategy conversations with the public safety departments. Maintain professional knowledge and develop new relationships for the exchange of ideas and perspectives by keeping current on industry and government standards and requirements, attending workshops and informational meetings, reviewing professional publications, and continuing partnerships and collaborations. Provide guidance and assistance that are consistent with the overall direction of the department, develop and implement policies and procedures, and research a variety of topics including new programs, grant availability, and professional development. Participate in a variety of internal and external meetings involving a range of issues related to regulatory requirements, program offerings, funding statuses, collaborations and partnerships, and participation levels. Compiling budget documents and analyzing grants public safety receives and preparing reports and statistical data for executive briefings. Perform other related duties as required.
