Per Diem Speech Therapist position available in Taylor, MI, US - Provide individualized care to patients in their homes. Assist patients with communication and language challenges, swallowing issues, and cognitive impairments. Specialize in augmentative communication support

Responsibilities: • As a Per Diem Speech Therapist in Taylor, MI, US, your responsibilities will include. • Conducting evaluations to assess patients' medical, psychosocial, and environmental needs, as well as speech, language, and swallowing difficulties. • Creating personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and physicians to address specific functional needs like pronunciation improvement and speech muscle strengthening. • Providing therapy for speech, language, augmentative communication, and feeding by conducting exercises and teaching clients how to enhance their communication skills. • Setting realistic and measurable goals for patients, monitoring their progress, and adjusting goals as needed. • Assisting patients in verbal and nonverbal communication, addressing cognitive disorders affecting communication, and providing counseling to clients and families on managing communication and swallowing issues. • Collaborating with the patient's care team members, such as dieticians, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and nurses, as well as coordinating care with doctors, teachers, and specialists. • Completing documentation, updating charts, and ensuring that all patient encounters are accurately recorded with visit notes describing treatment, patient status, assessment, and plans for future visits.

Qualifications: Education • Have a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited program in communicative sciences and disorders. The program must be accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) or another accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

Clinical experience • Have at least one year of clinical experience in speech-language pathology. You may also need to complete 1,260 hours of supervised postgraduate clinical experience. • Licenses and certifications. • Be certified to practice speech-language pathology and have a valid CPR certification. You may also need to have a current ASHA certification.

Other requirements • Have a valid driver's license and an insured automobile.
