Role OverviewReporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks with a focus on GL account reconciliations and account analysis. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.Key Responsibilities:Prepare, analyze, and review monthly journal entries ensuring proper documentation.Prepare account analyses, including balance sheet and PL results, with a focus on automating and improving cash reconciliation process. Review and analyze the organization's processes and procedures and identify and recommend improvements. Maintain fixed asset and related depreciation schedules.Assist with analysis and preparation of monthly financial statements for timely distribution to management.Serve as back-up to accounts payable function including but not limited to verifying invoices, expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions; entering data into accounts payable system; and processing weekly check runs.Assist with annual external audits.Assist with special projects as requested, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills:Solid understanding of GAAP Proven experience in performing month-end close procedures.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an attention to detailEffective communicator, both in writing and verbally, across all levels of the organizationAbility to effectively execute on a small team and build relationships across the business proactively. Self-starter with a take-charge & roll-up sleeves attitude.B.S in Accounting and CPA, or equivalent experienceKnowledge of accounting principles for GAAP and an ability to interpret the impact of new accounting principles.Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skillsComfortable dealing with deadlinesStrong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skillsAble to manage multiple priorities and workflow.Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.Required Experience:Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification is a plus.5+ years experience in an accounting roleFood industry, CPG or other Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems; working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
