We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our Fluid Systems Engineering team and help us deliver a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

Role Overview

The Fluid Systems Engineering team is a multidisciplinary group focused on designing systems for electrolyte management, air delivery, and thermal cooling for our energy storage system. As a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer, you'll lead system-level architecture trade studies, analyze systems and components, and provide design direction. Your expertise will be crucial in defining and executing system-level design trade studies to inform performance, efficiency, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead fluid systems analysis and architecture efforts for our next-generation product
  • Ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements and are compliant with industry standards
  • Provide first-generation analysis support for Root Cause Analysis and performance optimization
  • Coordinate prototype and verification test builds to datamatch analysis results and substantiate architecture choices
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to co-develop a product designed for high-volume manufacturing
  • Champion safety in the development of new laboratory processes
  • Participate in first-fielded unit operations for systems validation
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; BS with 8+ years of industry experience or MS with 6+ years of related industry experience
  • Experience with first-principles design and optimizing designs for performance, efficiency, cost, and manufacturability
  • Proficient in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and flow network analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with optimizing mechanical design, balance-of-plant systems, and interdisciplinary interfaces of fluid systems or airflow systems
  • Direct experience in product development within an early-stage environment, proficient with prototyping techniques and making test devices
  • Prior experience in Energy Storage, Battery Systems, Renewable Energy, or Utility industry is a plus
