Coordinator-Street Outreach Program (SOP)

SUPERVISOR:

Director-RHY/Respite Services

HOURS PER WEEK:

40- includes days, afternoons, evenings and weekends

QUALIFICATIONS:

AA or AS in field of Human Services preferred; High School Diploma/GED required 2 years of supervisory experience and program development 2 years of experience working with at risk youth Valid, driver’s license Comfortable interacting with youth in informal/non-traditional settings. Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.

FUNCTIONS: Oversee implementation of the Street Outreach Program (SOP) as indicated in the Federal Grant and any other grants received. Work as part of a team, locate and provide street-based outreach services to RHY who are on the streets, living in unstable, high-risk conditions

RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision Provide supervisory support to assigned SOP staff. Provide ongoing individual and group development and supervision to SOP staff. Provide training to all SOP ensuring that oversite training requirements are met. Conduct, a minimum of annual, evaluations for all SOP staff.

Program Development Develop and maintain procedure manual, ensuring compliance with all oversight agencies and funding sources. Develop “drop in” sights throughout Albany County, including New Beginnings Youth Shelter, proving a safe area for youth to access services. Develop and maintain a street presence in the Capital Region. Develop and maintain

relationships/partnerships

with Law Enforcement, health providers, churches, schools, shelters, community organizations etc. or any other group that may provide services or referrals to the SOP. Develop and maintain a supply of food, clothing and hygiene products that are consistently available for youth. Develop and maintain a curriculum of activities and events that build protective factors for youth. Develop and maintain a calendar of workshops, groups, trainings, and events to connect with youth, community organizations and service providers and to increase public awareness of youth homelessness and trafficking. Develop and maintain processes to respond to the immediate needs of youth. Develop and distribute promotional materials to youth, community members, school districts and other organizations. Develop and maintain processing for collecting and organizing data and client information. Work with Chief Development Officer to develop and maintain donation sources.

Administrative Recruit, interview and hire well qualified program staff. Develop and distribute weekly staff schedules. Monitor and approve staff time sheets on a bi-weekly basis. Complete various reports and audits as required by oversight agencies and funding sources. Analyze and report on collected data. Maintain an up-to-date list of resources for youth and providers.

General Implement and model agency practices including policies, procedures, and expectations. Foster appropriate adult/child relationships; maintain appropriate boundaries. Use open, honest, effective, professional communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Attend training in Harm-Reduction, Positive Youth Development (PYD), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Trauma-Informed care. Utilize these models as the philosophical foundation of interventions and strategies. Attend and contribute to all scheduled meetings including monthly staff meetings, staff development meetings, in-service meetings, and other meetings as directed. Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics. Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned. This position may work across all direct care programs to accommodate fluctuations in staffing.
