Property Accountant

Department: Accounting

Location: Corporate Office

Reports to: Assistant Controller

Summary of Role: As a Property Accountant, you will serve as the first point of contact for on-site teams and be responsible for delivering administrative and technical accounting support to the Property Management team. In this role, you will maintain financial reports, accounting records and general ledgers, analyze budgets, perform bookkeeping, and handle property accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.

Position Type: Full Time - Exempt (not eligible for overtime)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides general accounting support to the on-site Property Management staff.
  • Prepares bank reconciliations for all assigned accounts, recording and communicating necessary adjustments.
  • Prepares monthly property financial reports in accordance with owner deadlines and requirements.
  • Provides analysis to internal and external business partners.
  • Reviews Balance Sheets and Income Statements, per property, to verity account balances and reasonable revenue and expense amounts.
  • Ensures accuracy of all general ledger information.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual reconciliations.
  • Prepares management reports and analysis, including budget, payroll, insurance, and tax.
  • Informs management as to any discrepancies or any other problem areas that may exist or arise and assists in evaluating and resolving discrepancies, as needed.
  • Responds to requests for information from auditors and tax return preparers in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures and maintains effective internal controls.
  • Identifies and collaborates to implement process improvement.
  • Meets Accounting Department deadlines.
  • Manages the day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Assists Management in preparing budgets, forecasts, trend analysis, and fluctuation commentary.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business.
  • 3+ years of experience in an accounting-related position.
