Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking an IT Network Support Engineer for our Burns Harbor location. The Network Support Engineer will provide basic support for critical network services for LAN/WAN, routers, switches, wireless, data circuits, firewalls, and security.

Summary of Responsibilities:

+ Understand and participate in safety related topics and actions and follow the established safety practices of both plant based and IT related safety.

+ This position requires lifting and installation of network infrastructure equipment (access points, routers, switches, and UPSs) in offices and on the plant floor.

+ Install, configure basic settings, and replace/maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

+ Keep an accurate inventory of network equipment located onsite.

+ Mount network equipment in designated locations and ensure proper cable management.

+ Run cabling, including fiber optic cables, to connect network devices and ensure optimal connectivity.

+ Configure and install desk phones, ensuring seamless integration with the network infrastructure.

+ Perform basic network troubleshooting tasks to identify and resolve connectivity issues, including troubleshooting with fiber optic cables.

+ Work out of a network support ticket queue, prioritizing and addressing network-related issues reported by end-users.

+ Collaborate with network engineers and other IT professionals to implement network upgrades and expansions.

+ Provide technical support to end-users regarding network-related issues and inquiries.

+ The IT Network Support Engineer will be required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as needed in some locations within the plant. This typically includes Safety glasses, hard hat, steel toed-metatarsal shoes, and long sleeve shirts. Some locations require specialized clothing (fire retardant and/or arc proof) clothes and/or use of gas monitors.

+ Travel to other Cliffs locations as needed.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Associate Degree or equivalent experience.

+ Minimum one years experience using Cisco console cables and configurating basic settings on network hardware.

+ Minimum one years' experience deploying desk phones or other peripherals.

+ Minimum one years experience racking/stacking/cabling network hardware.

+ Minimum one years experience troubleshooting copper and fiber (ethernet) cables.

+ Minimum one years experience working with battery backup (UPS) systems.

+ Minimum one years experience troubleshooting basic network issues using tools such as ping/traceroute, etc.

+ Minimum one years experience using Cisco console cables and configurating basic settings on network hardware.

+ Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail.

+ Ability to learn new technology quickly.

+ Ability to plan and set direction.

+ Demonstrated teamwork/interpersonal skills.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Experience with PC applications including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ 4 years BS.

+ Proficient at configuring Cisco routers and switches. Includes development and implementation of features that optimize network communications.

+ Development of SOW (Statement of Work) for network projects.

+ Proficient using Microsoft Visio to create network drawings.

+ Experience with firewalls and other security appliances/tools.
